Triumph Pre-War 1945 Frame - TMT Services

HISTORY:

The  frame was produced by Triumph in 1941 and therefore had pre-war lugs to  fit a pre-war engine. The frame would have then gone into storage  awaiting sale.

When WW2 ended a number of these pre-war frames  were still in the inventory so they were altered and re-used to  acommodate the new post-war engine, producing in effect, a hybrid  between a pre and post war frame. This was done due to the desperate  shortage of materials after the war and re-vamping old stock was  necessary.

So this is pre-war with the mods in place for the post-war engine.

Existing  bikes indicate 1941 was the only year Triumph used for this conversion,  but records  fail to prove beyond doubt its provinence through  documentation. However when the frame came into my possesion some time  ago, the evidence was there to show the frame had the factory mod and  this was confimed by the engineer when he replaced the lower front  section with original parts. This remedial work was necessary due to  someone trying to return it to pre-war spec unsuccesfully.

CONDITION:

The frame is now in good usable condition and was accurately jigged when repaired to fit the post-war engine.

I  contacted the Triumph dating service and the stamps confirmed authentic  for 1941, however it would be given a 1941 reg, not 1945, due to the  lack so far of further evidence to prove otherwise. It's annoying, but  an understandable decision.

The engine cases which I bought separately have an authentic 1945 Speed Twin serial number.  The condition is excellent.

Only Speed Twins were given the conversion and I believe a handful exist in the world to date.
