Velocette 350/500 Single Kickstart

An original Velocette kickstart which has been re-chromed at some stage. Looks to be a high quality finish.

The quadrant teeth are in very good condition, however there is some deep pitting on the foot pedal as can be seen in the picture. The corrosion has resulted in the shaft being slightly unsize and it also appears that in the past rubber was not used to start the machine for many years (hence it is tapered slightly). It was common practice not to bother with the kickstart rubber as they tended to tear up within a very short time with use.

If the rubber is to be used then I would suggest sleeving and braizing at this point in order to achieve the diameter for the rubber to fit tightly to the shaft.
